Imants Tillers (b. 1950, Australia)
Nine Shots, 1985
“Rather than parodying artists, Tillers was bringing them together in discussion, including those other artists by whom he was fascinated … ‘appropriating’ is the wrong word: ‘performing’ would be better – just as a singer makes a rendition of someone else’s song: performance leads to transformation” (Godfrey 2009, 76)
What’s pertinent to my work here is “collaboration” with other artists without them knowing – my “Colaborations” is doing exactly the same. I also appreciate the modular structure of the work that I am exploring in some of my assembled works. I also like Godfrey’s comparison with music which relates to one of my projects to approach all art as music.
