Just a sign – with a quote from Macedonio Fernández “Museo de la Novela de la Eterna”. I have not read the book, but I take the author and the artist at their word.

Whatever may be meant by the phrase in the original, I take it as an observation that intersubjectivity can only go this far. At some point your sensemaking is bound to diverge. One of the crucial questions in my practice is where to set out this sign in my projects. I tend to push more responsibility for sensemaking onto the audience, even at the risk of losing their attention. I don’t mind such approach screening out individuals with whom I may have most productive exchange. Then, on the other hand, sometimes it may feel a bit selfish and irresponsible – why not help a few more over the threshold?.. But how many more and how far over the threshold?.. And is it really to their benefit to get over to “my side”? Or is it more in my interest?.. A never-ending balancing act…
