The Heart of the Matter, 1989

The viewer is admitted to a room with two chairs facing each other – one for the viewer, the other being occupied by a big red heart that starts beating upon approach.

Here I like the element of one-to-one and the heartbeat in the artwork. I’ve used my heartbeat in a number of works, including “Too Little Too Much” and have plans for more, I am also quite keen on staging more personalised, small scale art encounters.
