Graeme Davis
A boy child flies…, 1990
An interactive piece where rearrangement of boxes activated various sounds contained within. What I find interesting and pertinent is how efforts to sort visual elements produce a sonic composition. There is room both for chaos theory – apparently random sound is ‘composed’ by deliberate activity – and for ‘translations’ between media. My “Provocations Ouverture” is based on similar principle – text turned into musical composition simply by replacing letters by musical notes.
