I quite like the textiles for sculptural purposes, they may combine tension and malleability in interesting ways, they also do not require highly specialised workshops as many other materials/media. And crochet is a simple and handy way to get something done with limited resources, thus I’ve been playing around with crocheted soft sculpture, possibly on its way to become sound sculpture.
And here is a sweet little piece by Bauer where I appreciate the evocative subtlety of the gesture and quite unusual material meeting.
