Annika Pettersson (b. 1981, Sweden)
Glitch in the Copy (scan 7), 2018

Pettersson 3D scans and then 3D prints a baroque brooch and then repeats the process with the “copies” so produced, following emerging degeneration, contemplating questions of uniqueness and copying.

I’ve known and appreciated this work for quite a while, but only now, that I’ve eventually started to liberate my thinking from media and genre divides in favour of considering what the work investigates or does on more philosophical level, that I find a reason to list it here as pertinent to my work. I am not making copies of the copies of brooches, no. But as just discussed in #429, I am experimenting with degeneration and self-referentiality that can clash various codes, opening for new meanings.
