Ida Applebroog, 2011

Applebroog’s show at Hauser & Wirth in London. I will be a bad boy again and disregard the subject matter. What I am appreciating here, and find pertinent to my work, is the installation that displays paintings as sculptural objets in a spatial configuration, indirectly it also suggests the durational aspect of the encounter, the necessity to wander around in it in order to take in all the elements and the details. I am interested in blurring identities of media and genre, I am quite entertained to try and explore any artwork as a durational encounter – an encounter comparable to experience of music.
