Seven snare drums turned into loudspeakers.

A relevant case of ambiguation of identity. Drums look like drums, but their function – and sound – is altered. Are they no drums anymore? That would be a strange thing to say – they look like drums and could still function as drums. But they are not delivering upon expectation of a drum in terms of how they sound and “behave” – they are not used as drums – so it is also rather misleading to refer to them as drums…

Other than that it feeds into my explorations of sound sculpture at large – objects that emit sound – and how objects and sounds interact in meaning generation.
