Weaving looms

Pipinis has built his own weaving looms able to produce figurative images pre-programmed through home-made punch cards. It was my first and early exposure of how imagery can be transferred between various media – taken from real life or fantasy into a drawing, pixelated onto a grid paper, transferred to a punch card and from there into a woven image. A very analogue form of digitising that shows possibilities and methods for abstraction and translations between media.

This has informed my thinking and making in terms of methodology for deconstruction, reconstruction and transformation that I frequently use in a variety of media.
