Drucker produces a book about itself – in terms of typography and what it does in relation to our perception of the typographed text. Typography about typography. By the first “book artist” I’ve ever come across.
I am quite conscious about typography and tend to play with it a lot. However, I have never pushed it so far that it would be about itself. Conceptually I find it appealing, a closed circle, even if it is not as fun to actually read, as the tautology grows old on me quite fast when served so generously.
Yeah, it should be on my list. I’ve never pointed out typography as central to my works [but perhaps I did not have to be that tautological, either, when typography is pointing at itself already – some viewers were commenting on it even without me asking], but inspired by this example, I occasionally might.
