Value-added landscape No.11, 1993
An interesting way to re-work somebody else’s work that relates to my Colaboration series where I am doing the same by different means.
I am not sure I care that much for professional-amateur distinction that Burn emphasises, but rather embracing the implication that a work is never totally finally decisively complete. There is always room – chance – possibility of future changes generative of new meanings. Be it due to a deliberate physical modification, natural decay, re-contextualisation or re-interpretation. I guess, that is given, but my point is that when some artists (and artworld institutions) are working hard to preserve their works as complete and stable for the rest of eternity, I rather embrace and encourage constant change.
