Pulse Room, 2006

MONA, Hobart, Australia / Visited on 31/12/2017

An old and inspiring favourite. Hundred of lightbulbs pulsate in a rhythm of the visitors’ heartbeats. This is a beautiful example of how audience affects appearance of the work, how invisible is made visible, how our physical entanglement in the world is highlighted.

While I don’t really have any particular work that would very closely reflect this piece in a meaningful way, several of my ongoing projects as well as projects on my to-do-list deal with the aforementioned aspects and themes. Some of them are directly inspired by this experience.
