Yet another case of engaging with others’ work in unintended and/or unanticipated way. Here this comes in a several layers – an original book being inscribed with reader’s marks that is later incorporated in another artwork.
Several strands of my interests are intersecting here – unintended modes of engagement (e.g. scanning somebody else’s book to be presented as own artwork), observation of how people interact with the works of others (e.g. leaving marks in a book), suggestion of intertextuality and intersubjectivity by sharing an interest in a same book with others etc. This clearly has parallels with my piece Rererepresentations where I present digitally redacted scans from second hand and library books containing underlinings and notes by previous readers.
