I am not too excited about all the appropriation debate and its political-ideological connotations – or framing of it as a genre or method, I am all about productive engagement with the work in a way that makes sense for the engager regardless of whether that mode of engagement was desired or anticipated by the original artist.
I’ve already mentioned in this blog my “Collaborations” and similar projects that assume the same approach towards the predecessor’s works.
