Soundcube, 1968 [1980]

Of course all your ingenious ideas have already been thought and acted upon some fifty years ago. Spatialisation of sound that appears to move along very specific path in the room was what I’ve been [slowly] working for a while in 7.1 surround environment – and so I stumble upon a room with 6×64 speakers built for the purpose decades ago.

I don’t think it obliterates my humble endeavour, since at the end the actual sounds and their paths and the environment they are moving in would be different. The Soundcube as such could be viewed as an instrument rather than a piece – from purely sonic perspective. And I am unlikely to gain access to anything like that any time soon, which causes me to look for alternative solutions to the problem. So in a way it might be a validator for my little project, showing that I am not the only one finding it to be an interesting pursuit.
