OH! AH AH PREE TRRA TRRA, 2019
I love Catherine’s concept of letting humans sing birdsongs from scores. I have no articulated explanation to it. I guess, it is something about unsettling some preconceptions – using human letters to transcribe non-human communication that becomes a kind of human communication when performed by humans in a group, that comes to sound very bird-like even if with human accent…
This has parallels with some of my birdy projects trying to emulate birdsongs or certain of their aspects. The parallel is primarily methodological, as my projects in the area are very open-ended at this point, a bit of a fishing expedition into [for me] unknown rather than pursuing a particular goal.
